A morning of books, blooms, and hands-on fun is planned for local families as the Davidson County Master Gardeners prepare to host “Books in Bloom,” a free children’s event designed to spark a love of reading and the outdoors.

Set for Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens, the event will bring together local authors, interactive activities, and a welcoming outdoor setting for children and their families.

“Young guests can enjoy a garden themed scavenger hunt and book themed activities from six local authors,” said Lisa Ward. “We need the kids to come out to a wonderful free event.”

The morning is built around simple ideas that resonate, books, nature, and community. Children will have the chance to explore the gardens while participating in themed activities that connect storytelling with the natural world.

An ice cream truck will also be on site with treats available for purchase, and Pig City Books will be present to help families find new reads for the summer.

Organizers say the goal is to create an inviting space where children can connect with both literature and the environment in a relaxed, engaging way.

The event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to stop by, explore, and enjoy a morning where stories and gardens grow side by side.
