Mark Your Calendars: Learn to Grow a Better Lawn
Whether you're battling brown spots or dreaming of lush, barefoot-worthy grass, now’s your chance to learn how to take control of your lawn—without breaking the bank or your back.
The Davidson County Center of NC State Extension is inviting community members to dig into lawn care at its Extension Gardener: Lawn Care Workshop starting August 7th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The event will be held at the Davidson County Agricultural Center, located at 301 E Center Street in Lexington.
Led by Sam Boring, the workshop covers the nuts and bolts of keeping a healthy lawn in North Carolina’s climate. Whether you’re starting from scratch or just trying to fix that one stubborn spot that won’t green up, this workshop has something for you.
“You don’t need a landscaping crew or a fancy budget,” said Boring. “What you do need is good information and the right timing. That’s what this workshop is all about.”
Topics include:
How to choose the right grass for your yard
When and how to fertilize
Proper watering techniques
Troubleshooting pests, weeds, and diseases
Mowing tips that protect—not punish—your lawn
It’s a great opportunity for first-time homeowners, longtime gardeners, or anyone looking to make their yard a little greener this year. And best of all? It’s free—just bring your curiosity (and maybe a notebook).
Registration is required and can be done online at go.ncsu.edu/davidson-gardens.
