Davidson County Launches New Public GIS Site
Davidson County has rolled out a brand-new Geographic Information System (GIS) website—its first major upgrade in nearly two decades. The site, available at the same web address as before, offers a faster, cleaner, and more user-friendly way to explore county maps and property data.
GIS Manager Jason Clodfelter said the old site “served Davidson County well for around 20 years,” but it was time to move forward. “As technology has advanced, it became obvious our GIS site needed to as well,” Clodfelter explained. “The new application should provide a better user experience with enhanced rendering capabilities, improved load time, and more than a dozen new data layers.”
The redesigned platform features a modern interface, faster loading times, and adaptive design—meaning it automatically adjusts to fit phones, tablets, and desktops without requiring a separate mobile app.
To help users navigate the upgrade, the County has also provided an online help document with step-by-step guidance for finding data, using map tools, and exploring the new features. You can access it directly from the GIS site or download it here.
For those who prefer a hands-on introduction, the County is hosting free one-hour demonstrations of the new GIS platform at the Davidson County Government Center in Lexington:
