Release date changes for Molly Corbett and Thomas Martens

Former Davidson County resident Molly Corbett and her father, Thomas Martens will be released from custody on June 06, 2024 according to information released by The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

The current release date is slated to occur 3 weeks before the formally proposed date of June 27, 2024.

The Davidson County Courts released amended judgement and commitment documents on February 13, 2024 for the pair which included credit for time served since the dates of their first incarceration in 2017.

The credit allotted for their time served totaled 21 days.

An amended judgement is a revision or a modification to the original judgement in a case. It can potentially reduce the severity of a sentence or even overturn a conviction.

The two are completing a sentence of 51-74 months for voluntary manslaughter in the death of Molly Corbett’s husband, Jason in 2015. After serving for 44 months of the current sentence, both will now serve the remaining months, benefiting from a reduction in time due to good behavior.

The Defense Attorneys for Corbett and Martens claim that the two acted in self defense.
