Press Release: Davidson County Sheriffs make arrest in child abduction case

On Monday February 26, 2024 at 4:50 p.m. Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an address in the Tyro Community of Davidson County in reference to a child abduction of two minors.

It was reported to deputies that the maternal grandmother and grandfather of the children came to the residence, physically took the two minor children without consent and fled the residence.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived on scene. Through their investigation and with the assistance of the High Point Police Department, the two minor children were located, unharmed, at a residence in High Point by the High Point Police Department.

Both minor children were returned to their biological father safely.

Melvin Spivey, 64 of High Point, NC and Patricia Spivey, 62 of High Point, NC were placed under arrest and charged with two counts of felony - abduction of a child.

Both Melvin Spivey and Patricia Spivey were transported to the Davidson County Magistrates Office where they were held under bond and ordered to the custody of the Davidson County Detention Center.

They are both scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on March 27, 2024.
