Dr. Hakima M. Britt Transitions to Director of Community Engagement & Special Projects at Lexington City Schools 

Lexington City Schools is delighted to announce the transition of Dr. Hakima M. Britt to the position of Director of Community Engagement & Special Projects beginning July 1. Currently serving as the Accountability & Student Information Director within the district, Dr. Britt brings with her an extensive background in educational leadership and a deep commitment to community engagement.

Dr. Britt holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has been an integral part of the Lexington City Schools community. Her research focus on "Beginning Teacher Support in Urban Elementary School Settings: The Principal’s Role" reflects her dedication to enhancing the educational experience for both educators and students.

With over a decade of leadership experience within Lexington City Schools, Dr. Britt has consistently demonstrated exceptional skills in fostering academic excellence and community involvement. As the K-12 District Virtual Academy Coordinator, she played a pivotal role in maintaining open communication with stakeholders and ensuring the success of the Virtual Academy.

In her current role as Accountability & Student Information Director, Dr. Britt has overseen training, distribution, administration, monitoring, and reporting for local, federal, and state assessments. Her active participation in various central office committees has contributed significantly to the overall performance of the district.

Superintendent Dr. Nakia Hardy expressed enthusiasm about Dr. Britt's transition, stating, "Dr. Hakima M. Britt's wealth of experience and deep roots in our educational community make her the perfect fit for the role of Director of Community Engagement & Special Projects. Her commitment to educational excellence and community involvement aligns seamlessly with the values of Lexington City Schools, and we are confident in her ability to make lasting contributions to our district."

In her new capacity, Dr. Hakima M. Britt will play a crucial role in enhancing community engagement initiatives and overseeing special projects, furthering the district's commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
