FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Lexington City Schools Board of Education announces that Superintendent Dr. Nakia Hardy has accepted the role of Superintendent of Franklin County Schools. Dr. Hardy joined LCS in July 2023 and has served the district with commitment and purpose.

Significant Advancements Under Dr. Hardy’s Leadership

Lexington City Schools experienced progress across several core areas, including:

  • Academic growth and instructional alignment

  • Compensation adjustments and related policy changes for classified staff

  • Strategic planning with defined district priorities

  • Expanded focus on safety and student well-being

  • Technology modernization and upgraded communication systems

  • Efforts to strengthen workforce support and retention

Franklin County Schools Selection Process

Franklin County Schools serves nearly 8,000 students and recently completed a comprehensive search involving 29 candidates across six states. Dr. Hardy was selected for her demonstrated academic leadership, commitment to student advancement, and ability to build systems-level improvement.

Transition and Next Steps

Dr. Hardy will work closely with district leadership and the LCS Board of Education to ensure a seamless transition. Information regarding interim leadership and the forthcoming superintendent selection process will be shared publicly in the coming weeks.
