Lexington, NC – Davidson County Senior Services is excited to announce an expansion of program offerings at the Southmont Civic Center. The expansion is designed to meet growing demand and help more senior adults live healthy, independent and socially connected lives within their own homes and communities.
Enhanced programming will offer a wider range of services to address key needs for older adults including an expansion of health and wellness opportunities. Exercise equipment including treadmills, a recumbent bike and free weights are now available at this location. Group exercise classes led by a certified instructor including Chair Yoga and Drums Alive are also offered on a weekly basis.
County residents age 55 and older are invited to take part in programs offered Tuesday through Thursday afternoons beginning at 12pm. A calendar of activities is published on a monthly basis and is available online, by email or pickup. “We’re very excited to be able to expand our program offerings at the Southmont Civic Center. We have a wonderful group of core participants at this location, but we know there’s more older adults in this community that could benefit from these services. Our hope is that this expansion will provide valuable resources for the Southmont community,” states Senior Center Manager, Christie Smith.
Senior Services’ will host an open house at the Southmont Civic Center (13424 Linwood Southmont Rd.) from 2-4 p.m. January 12. Community members are invited to view the new interior renovations while enjoying light refreshments.
