Davidson County Keeps Three Saturdays, Rejects Sunday Voting in Early Voting Plan

The Davidson County Board of Elections met last night for the 3rd time to make a decision about Early Voting for the November 3rd General Election (aka One-Stop Voting) beginning Oct. 15.

About 33 members of the public showed up for the BOE meeting. All seemed to be present to request more than the 1 Saturday proposed and to add at least one Sunday to the voting schedule. 13 people spoke in FAVOR of Sunday voting and adding at least 1 Saturday other than the state BOE mandated Halloween as a Saturday to vote.

None of the 3 Republicans on the BOE would agree to Sunday Voting. Both of the Democrats on the BOE wanted Sunday voting.

Unless the local BOE could ALL 5 agree on a plan, the dates, times, and even locations for Early Voting would go to the state BOE to overhaul as they see fit. Republican members held fast on NO SUNDAYS. The final compromise was all 3 Saturdays but no Sundays.

Everyone needs to know how this occurred. You can each decide how to vote when the elections begin.
