The roadmap to the cross: Part 1

The roadmap to the cross: Part 1

Grace is available to start anew as we need it.

As we embark on the Easter season, let us be reminded of the Lent season, which is a 40 day season of prayer and fasting that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday.

This period is a time of preparation to celebrate the resurrection at Easter.

The 40 days of Lent is primarily identified with the time Jesus spent in the desert fasting, praying and being tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1-11

So now we begin our roadmap to the cross.

We begin with Jesus telling his disciples that he was going to Jerusalem to die on the cross. Matthew 20:17-19

On the roadmap to the cross, Jesus had to complete earthly ministry. Jesus and the disciples began by going to Bethany, here is where we find Jesus meeting with Mary and Martha, it’s here in the town of Bethany, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

Jesus did many miracles on his way to the cross.

We also find Jesus going to the edge of Galilee.

Our Savior traveled many miles on the roadmap to the cross.

Now when Jesus reached Jericho, he continued with his miracles, we see Jesus healing the blind.

Jesus, a man full of compassion and kindness for all mankind.

The roadmap to the cross was not always pleasant.

It’s when the Chief Priest heard of all the miracles that Jesus was performing. Things began to change, “Then from that day forth they took counsel together, to put Jesus to death.” John 11:53

Jesus continued on the roadmap to the cross.

We then find Jesus and his disciples coming upon a man that was a tax collector, after having contact with Jesus this man was converted and began giving back money, if the tax money he had, was wrongly taken.

We find Jesus traveling back to Bethany with his disciples.

Once again we find the Chief Priest plotting to kill Jesus, because of jealousy and fear.

“For we know that all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord”.

Our roadmap to the cross is a powerfully moving event that takes us along with Jesus every step of the way. For we know our journey begins and our journey ends with Jesus.

The roadmap to the cross is the way to Salvation.

As we meditate on the word of God this week, let us remember Our Savior was born to die.

May we always remember to follow the roadmap to the cross, that we may stay connected to the old rugged cross.

May God So Richly Bless!
