New Meals on Wheels Route started in the High Rock Lake Community

Lexington, NC - Davidson County Senior Services has started its twenty-fourth Meals on Wheels route in the High Rock Lake community.

The new route will serve up to sixteen homebound seniors a hot balanced meal, plus a wellness check each weekday. County residents, 60 years of age or older, who are homebound and unable to prepare a balanced meal for themselves benefit greatly from this program.

“Homebound seniors in the High Rock community need our support. We have two neighboring meal routes for Southmont and Cotton Grove however this community continued to be our largest waitlist in the county”, stated Ron Bellini, Nutrition Program Manager.

Senior Services Director, Thessia Everhart-Roberts added, “Thanks to the dedication of our Development Coordinator, Jessica Nance, and the generosity of our community, we raised over $30,000 to launch the High Rock Meals on Wheels route expanding access and bringing vital nutrition services to seniors who need it most.”

Individuals in need of Meals on Wheels services, as well as those interested in volunteering to deliver meals, are encouraged to contact Davidson County Senior Services at 336-242-2290. Their team is available to provide information, complete screenings, and help connect community members with opportunities to support and serve local seniors.

Senior Services, a division of Davidson County Government, was established in 1975. The organization’s mission is to offer an array of programs and services to older adults regarding their well-being, independence, involvement in their community and the ability for them to remain in their own home.
