Vigil held for injured Lexington firefighter

Hillside Park Baptist Church was the setting for a prayer vigil which was held for Lexington firefighter, Captain Ronnie Metcalf, who received severe injuries while fighting a fire which destroyed a home on West Fifth Street on the morning of March 06, 2024.

Captain Metcalf was transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where he has been reported to be in stable condition with life threatening injuries. He is scheduled to undergo surgery today at the hospital.

Captain Metcalf has been a member of the church for over 18 years and is regarded as being a leader in the church and a pillar of the local community.

The vigil was filled with individuals offering prayers and comfort to the Captain, the Lexington Fire Department and Captain Metcalf’s family.

A fundraiser is currently underway to aid with the expenses for Captain Metcalf.
