Turning Pain into Purpose-Today

Turning Pain into Purpose-Today

At Davidson Local, we get a lot of requests—free ads, news coverage, sponsorships—and we try to help where we can. But every now and then, something hits different. Something sits on your heart.

JLD Community Solutions is one of those somethings.

They’re not just organizing events. They’re creating spaces for healing, for hope, for hard conversations, and for real joy. Whether it's honoring lives lost to gun violence or uplifting Black-owned businesses, this team continues to show up for the community in ways that truly matter. They are turning pain into purpose every step of the way.

This isn’t just a good cause—it’s a personal one. That’s why Davidson Local is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the upcoming Lexington Community Safety Awareness Block Party, featuring the Black Business Expo.

The event takes place Saturday, June 7, from 12 to 5 p.m. at 900 Dixie Street in Lexington, in the open field across from Files Chapel Baptist Church. This gathering will include music, vendors, food trucks, entertainment, gaming, a memorial vigil, and community giveaways.

Our Community Engagement Team, led by Chinue Hubert, will be there hosting a table with hydration, snacks, and conversation. We’ll be there to listen, to connect, and to continue telling the stories that matter in Davidson County.

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and this event is about more than just fun—it’s about remembrance, resilience, and community. Come stand with us. Come celebrate with us. Come see what purpose in action looks like.
