Fried Fish and Frontline Issues: Thomasville Mayoral Forum Serves Up Food, Facts and Fellowship
Thomasville residents are getting served something special this Friday—and it’s not just golden fried fish. It’s local democracy in action.
A nonpartisan Mayoral Candidate Forum will take place on Friday, August 1 at 6:30 PM at the Central Recreation Center, located at 211 East Main Street. The event offers voters a rare opportunity to see all Thomasville mayoral candidates in one place, answer prepared community questions, and connect over a shared meal. Doors open at 6:15 PM, and everyone is invited.
The evening is the brainchild of Kelly Johnson, a longtime community organizer, Pentecostal minister, and self-described liaison to the faith-based community. She will serve as host and moderator for the forum.
To keep things fair and anxiety-free, all candidates will respond to a set of prepared questions. This approach ensures that responses are thoughtful and rooted in the issues that matter most to Thomasville residents.
But the evening isn’t all business. The event will also feature a free community fish fry, sponsored by Charles Little, a Thomasville native, THS alum, and representative of Lincoln Heritage. Little, who still has deep ties to the area, saw the forum as the perfect chance to give back.
Together, Johnson and Little have created a space that blends civic engagement with community fellowship—a tradition that’s often lost in today’s fast-paced political climate.
