Denton Watermelon Festival

On Saturday Aug. 6 from 9am-2pm Denton will host their 6th Annual Watermelon Festival at Harrison Park located at 52 W. Salisbury St. Denton, NC 27239. This family friendly event that has grown in numbers since 2017 will feature 40+ vendors, a cornhole tournament, local entertainment, a pageant, watermelon eating contest and a seed spitting contest, plus more.

Ease on down the road: FREE Iconic films start on July 23rd

The Black Butterfly Network of Lexington's inaugural “Summer Classic Film Series.” The movies that will be presented throughout the series will be iconic Black films such as The Wiz, and Mahogany. The series of films will be held at Bull City Ciderworks - Lexington located in the Depot District at 299 S. Railroad Street, Lexington, NC 27292.

Republican Women host Conservative Conversations and Cookout

The Davidson County Republican Women's Club is hosting their second annual Conservative Conversations and Cookout. This year's event will feature congressman Ted Budd, congressman Dan Bishop, Judge April Wood, county commissioners as well as other State, Federal and local candidates. This beautiful meet and greet will allow for discussions and conversations with our elected officials.

Nonprofits can learn more about local funding

United Way of Davidson County will host a virtual Agency Funding Application Meeting for any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization interested in applying for funding on Thursday, July 21, 2022. United Way of Davidson County provides funding for agencies that focus on Health, Education and Financial Stability. Any organization that would like to apply for funding for 2023 must attend this meeting.

Davidson County NAACP supports free fun pool days

The Davidson County NAACP-Lexington Branch with the support of the community and organizations have been sponsoring Free Fun Days at the Pool for children ages 0 to 17. for the past 20 plus years. It started at the Washington Park Swimming Pool. After the Splash Pad Park replaced the Washington Park Swimming Pool, the support continued to the Lexington Aquatic Park. This project has been very successful. This year the cost has had to increase from $1. per child to $2. This will still be a very successful year, 387 children will be able to go to the pool free of charge. Because there has been an additional donation, 87 children will be allowed to swim free instead of 75 on the last Tuesday, August 9, 2022!!
