Honoring local food and local workers: Davidson Local introduces Foodie Passports, Food and Beverage Concert

This weeklong culinary extravaganza, presented by Eat Drink Triad in collaboration with the Winston-Salem Journal and Greensboro News and Record, aims to drive traffic to local restaurants through dine-in and carry-out orders, all while showcasing local culinary talent.

Davidson Local has been tapped as the official media sponsor and will host Local Foodie Passport & Passport. Concert featuring Simmerson Hill (acoustic) on Wednesday, October 26 from 6 to10 p.m. at Arts Davidson on 202 N Main St, Suite C.

Applications are out for our Miss Denton, Junior Miss Denton, and Little Miss Denton applicants. If you are interest, Denton Lions Club board member can be asked for a paper copy of the application form.

All applications are due to the first practice which will be Sunday, September 25 starting at 2 pm at the Central United Methodist Church Hut located at 276 W 1st St, Denton, NC 27239.

Unidos: Community leaders celebrate Hispanic Heritage month

The City of Lexington will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month starting September 2022 with a couple of events. The national observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting September 15 and ending October 15 of each year. The theme for this year’s celebration is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.” The Latino Association of Davidson County is a nonprofit that was created to connect, organize, educate, and advocate on behalf of the Latino Community of Davidson County.

Seniors’ Day at the County Agricultural Fair: Senator Jarvis

Davidson County Senior Services, in partnership with the Lexington Kiwanis Club, is hosting the Annual Seniors’ Day at the County Agricultural Fair. The date will be September 22 at the Davidson County Fairgrounds, 400 Greensboro St. Ext. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m., and admission is free for all seniors 55 and older.
