Meet Charles and Pamela Leonard of Gentle Harmony Farm, an organic medicinal herb farm located in the Yadkin River valley. When they purchased the property in 2008, they didn't intend for it to become a working farm as they had retired. Each year, a group of around 100 volunteers participate in this process to review applications from nonprofits requesting funds from United Way of Davidson County. These volunteers make decisions on how to allocate funding to a variety of local agencies doing life-changing work. Our community relies on these volunteers to act as stewards for funds by the United Way of Davidson County. You can be part of this amazing group!
With an initial grant from the Davidson County Health Department and ongoing support from the Church consistory and the Lexington Garden Club, volunteers and paid garden workers from the Open Hands Ministry of Davidson County have added an automated irrigation system, raised metal garden beds and a pollinator garden to attract bees and butterflies to the vegetable garden.
