Driver Killed on South Main in Lexington

Lexington Police Identify Driver Killed in July 6 South Main Street Crash; Provide Update on Both July 6 Traffic Crashes

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Lexington Police Department has identified the driver who died in a July 6 crash on South Main Street and is providing an update on both traffic crashes that occurred that afternoon.

South Main Street crash — decedent identified

The driver who was found deceased at the scene of the July 6 crash on South Main Street near Prospect Drive has been identified as Lorri Suggs, 56, of Thomasville. The identity is being released following notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under active investigation by Lexington Police traffic crash investigators. The cause of the crash is not being released while the investigation is ongoing. Additional details will be provided once the investigation is complete.

East Center Street crash — investigation closed

Lexington Police have closed their investigation into the July 6 crash on East Center Street at North Salisbury Street, in which a pedestrian, Nate Long, 31, of Lexington, was struck by a vehicle.

Investigators determined that Long contributed to the crash by failing to yield to traffic. No charges have been filed.

The crash report is available as a public record and may be requested through the Lexington Police Department. Long continues to receive treatment at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Road closures

East Center Street was closed at approximately 1:00 p.m. and reopened around 2:00 p.m.

South Main Street was closed at approximately 1:20 p.m. and reopened around 5:00 p.m.
