Lexington Police Conclude Investigation into July 6 Fatal Crash Involving EMS Vehicle

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Lexington Police Department has concluded its investigation into the July 6 crash on South Main Street involving a Davidson County EMS truck, in which Lorri Suggs was killed. With this, the investigations into both traffic crashes that occurred that afternoon are now complete.

As part of concluding the investigation, Lexington Police investigators consulted with the Davidson County District Attorney's Office on their findings. Investigators determined that Suggs contributed to the crash by failing to yield to the right-of-way of the EMS vehicle, which was being operated with emergency lights and audible sirens and horns in use. No criminal charges will be filed in this incident.

Nate Long, the pedestrian who was struck in the separate East Center Street crash and was being transported by EMS at the time of the South Main Street crash, continues to be treated by medical professionals. Lexington Police previously closed their investigation into the East Center Street crash, in which investigators determined Long contributed to that crash by failing to yield to traffic. No charges were filed in that incident.

This has been a very unfortunate incident, and the City extends its sympathy to all those affected.
