LPD is currently in search of Andrew Brackman who is wanted for assault on a law enforcement officer. Brackman is on foot in the south end of Lexington on the stretch of Cotton Grove Rd/NC Highway 8 from Plaza Parkway to Highway 47. This has caused for an increased police presence in the south end of the city.
At 4:30 p.m. on May 1st, the Lexington Police Department (LPD) officers responded to calls about multiple shots being fired repeatedly by a rifle in the area of E Third Street and Pine Street. Officers responded swiftly and a Shelter in Place was issued at 4:48 p.m. for the safety of residents in the area. It was determined that the shots were being fired from a residence on Pine Street.
Police Chief Robby Rummage and Lexington Police Department (LPD) leadership will be hosting four community meetings throughout the month of May. The meetings will take place at various locations throughout Lexington.

On Thursday, April 3, officers with the Lexington Police
Department responded to the Davidson County Courthouse, 110 West Center St, in reference to a single motor vehicle accident involving the courthouse building.
Lexington police officers responded to multiple 911
calls for service this morning at 5:30 a.m. regarding two vehicles driving in a
neighborhood off South Main Street including Snider Avenue, Peacock Avenue, Austin
Street, and Stamey Avenue. The 911 callers reported that two cars were driving around
the neighborhood “Ramming” each other and that they also heard gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located one gunshot victim near a vehicle that had crashed into a house located at 103 Peacock Avenue.
Representatives from the City of Lexington said the victim, identified as Andrew Wynn, was on the overpass on Cotton Grove Road prior to the collision with the truck on the highway. Law enforcement believe it was an “intentional act” on part of the victim and the driver of the vehicle was charged with any violations.
Currently, Nancy Buntly and her black 2017 Honda Pilot have not been located. The Lexington Police Department will provide updates on the following steps.

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, Lexington Police Officers arrested 42-year-old Aimee Lakey concerning a fire on Main Street on October 28. Lakey was charged with burning of a church, and bond has been set at $25,000. The church is owned by Jesus Comes First Ministries.
A 15-year-old Lexington Senior High School student has now been charged with felony communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property related to a threat made towards Lexington Senior High School on October 9.
The Lexington Police Department and Lexington City Schools continue working together to investigate and respond to recent threats about Lexington Senior High School on social media.

Da-Juan Russell was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $57,500.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on October 12, 2023.

At approximately 8 am this morning, William Bess, 48, of Lexington, was struck and killed by an Amtrak train. Lexington Fire Department, Davidson County EMS and Davidson County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
