Press Release: Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol Conducts Multi-Agency Investigations

On July 18 & 19, 2025 Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office T.R.A.C.E. Team along with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol, North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, the Lexington Police Department, Thomasville Police Departments DWI Task Force, Denton Police Department, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Davidson County 911 Center and the Forensic Test for Alcohol Branch (Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit- BAT Mobile) conducted a two day multi-agency high visibility engagement, through the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program. July 18th was conducted in the area of Interstate 85 and July 19th was conducted in the area of Hwy 8, on and around High Rock Lake, Southmont.

These events are part of an initiative to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities on area roadways. Through these coordinated efforts, law enforcement agencies not only enforce the law but also engage with the public to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving. The operation focused on education, enforcement, and high-visibility patrols, targeting unsafe driving behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and other motor vehicle violations.

As a collaborative effort officers issued about 119 charges which included Boating While Impaired, restraint violations, driving while license revoked, no operator’s license, no insurance, and registration violations. Several individuals were charged with felony drug violations for the possession of Methamphetamine.

These events reinforce the shared commitment to promoting safer highways throughout Davidson County.
