Alleged larceny leads to child exploitation charges

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office T.R.A.C.E. Team Arrests Lexington Man for Child Exploitation Charges following theft investigation.

Davidson County, N.C. — On December 3rd, 2025, Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office T.R.A.C.E. Team began investigating a larceny that occurred in Linwood. During the course of the investigation, multiple suspects were identified and arrested. On December 22nd, Detectives arrested Eric Yates Kimbrell, age 39, in reference to this larceny. While investigating Kimbrell’s involvement in the larcenies, Detectives learned Kimbrell was in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

In a collaborative effort with the Davidson County’s Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, a Child Sexual Exploitation investigation began. On January 8th, Kimbrell was arrested in reference to this investigation and was charged with 8 counts of 2nd degree Child Exploitation of a minor and 8 counts of 3rd degree Child Exploitation of a minor. Kimbrell is being held in the Davidson County Jail under a $400,000.00 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson County Court in January 2026.

Per North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, judicial officials determine conditions for the release of persons in judicial proceedings. Bond amounts are not set by members of law enforcement. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
