Arts Davidson County Brings Holiday Cheer with Holiday Movie Wonderthon
Arts Davidson County Brings Holiday Cheer With The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon by Don Zolidis
Arts Davidson County is delighted to celebrate the season with the laugh-out-loud holiday comedy The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon by Don Zolidis, opening this December in Arts Davidson County’s blackbox theatre at 202 North Main Street in Uptown Lexington. Show dates are Friday, Dec 19th and Saturday, Dec. 20th at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm. This joyful, playful send-up of beloved holiday movie traditions is a perfect night out for families, holiday lovers, and anyone who enjoys a good-spirited parody.
This production also marks an exciting milestone: the official launch of Arts Davidson County’s new teen- and young adult-led theatre program, Third Place Productions. The idea began earlier this year when a passionate group of local teens approached Arts Davidson County with a vision to create and produce their own theatre. Their pilot production, Mean Girls: High School Version, was fully crowdfunded, staged in August, and received tremendous community support. The success of that show revealed the momentum, creativity, and commitment of young artists in Davidson County and inspired the organization to develop this initiative into a lasting program.
That same spirit now returns, joined by young adults, for a festive and feel-good holiday performance that allows emerging performers and creative leaders to continue growing their skills both onstage and behind the scenes. This is theatre created by young people, supported by Arts Davidson County, and shared with the entire community.
Arts Davidson County’s youth-driven theatre model offers something truly special. Participants gain real-world experience in acting, directing, design, technical theatre, stage management, costuming, and more. They learn in a supportive and collaborative environment where creativity is encouraged and leadership is developed. The goal is to create a place where young people feel empowered, confident, and excited to share their gifts with audiences.
“We are thrilled to keep theatre thriving at 202 North Main Street,” says Amanda Feliciano, executive director of Arts Davidson County. “The creativity and leadership these young artists bring to the space are inspiring. Watching them grow, both onstage and off, reminds us why arts education and performance opportunities matter so much in our community.”
The Holiday Channel Christmas Movie Wonderthon promises an evening filled with cozy holiday fun and big laughter. Audiences can expect over-the-top romance, snow-covered silliness, cheerful tropes, and a delightful cast of characters that will brighten the season.
