Dr. Quincy Williams chosen as Thomasville City Schools superintendent

The Thomasville City Board of Education is thrilled to announce the selection of Dr. Quincy Williams as the next superintendent of Thomasville City Schools (TCS).

Dr. Williams’s tenure will officially commence in mid-May of this year.

After a meticulous review process that included applications from a diverse pool of twenty-two highly qualified candidates from seven states, the board enthusiastically chose Dr. Williams based on his extensive experience, exemplary leadership, and unwavering dedication to students and staff. The board is confident that Dr. Williams’s vision and expertise will propel TCS to new heights of achievement.

Dr. Williams has enjoyed a long and very successful career in public education spanning nearly twenty-five years in North Carolina. Most recently, he served as area superintendent for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Prior to this, he served as the executive director of secondary schools for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (2018-2021) and held key positions such as district math coach, principal, assistant principal, and teacher for Guilford County Schools (2000-2018). Dr. Williams began his career as a math teacher in Greensboro, North Carolina. In addition to his practical experience, Dr. Williams boasts a robust academic background, holding a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. He further pursued his passion for education by earning a master’s degree in school administration and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Dr. Williams is eager to assume leadership of Thomasville City Schools and actively engage with the community. “I am profoundly honored and filled with immense gratitude to have been chosen as the next Superintendent of Thomasville City Schools,” Dr. Williams said in a statement. “I eagerly anticipate partnering with the Board of Education and all stakeholders as we embark on this journey together. Together, we will work tirelessly to transform Thomasville City Schools into the Premier Future-Ready District, where every student thrives, learns, and achieves beyond their greatest dreams.”
