A Mother's Day Tribute by Daniel Huynh: Chi Kim Huynh

This Mother’s Day, I want to honor my mom, Chi Kim Huynh, whose love and strength have shaped my life in countless ways. To me, she is love personified. Growing up, I always knew I could count on her. No matter what she was doing, she would stop everything in a heartbeat to be there for us. She made sure we never went without—whether it was food on the table, a ride to school, or simply a warm hug at the end of a tough day. Her care was constant, unconditional, and unwavering.

One of my favorite memories with her was the day my wife and I told her that she would be a grandma. I’ve never seen my mom so happy; it was as if her whole face glowed with joy. In that moment, I could see how deeply she loved her family and how excited she was to welcome the next generation. Her happiness wasn’t just for us—it radiated from a place of pride, hope, and love that filled the whole room.

Beyond her love, my mom taught me life’s most valuable lessons. She showed me how to be an honest, hardworking man. She believed in giving 110% to everything you do, no matter how big or small. She taught me to never give up, even when things get hard, and to keep my head up through the tough times. Her guidance has been my compass, helping me navigate life’s challenges with resilience and integrity.

But perhaps what inspires me most is the strength she’s shown throughout her life. Leaving Vietnam wasn’t easy, and the sacrifices she made to build a better life for our family are immeasurable. The hardships she endured and the determination that carried her through have left a legacy of courage and perseverance.

This Mother’s Day, I celebrate Chi Kim Huynh—not just as my mom, but as a woman whose love, strength, and sacrifices continue to inspire me every day.
