Community organizations unite for safety block party

This free, family-friendly event honors gun violence awareness month while celebrating local black-owned businesses.

JLD Community Solutions, The Inside Scoop Ministries, and Restore Hope Outreach Ministry are proud to announce the Lexington Community Safety Awareness Block Party, featuring the Black Business Expo, on Saturday, June 7th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 900 Dixie St, Lexington, NC (open field across from Files Chapel Baptist Church).

This year’s event, held in recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Month, will unite the community for a day of education, empowerment, and celebration. Attendees will enjoy live mJLusic, entertainment, a Kids’ Zone with games and activities, food vendors, and inspiring stories from local Black entrepreneurs.

A Special Thank You to Our Corporate Sponsor

We extend our sincere gratitude to Davidson Local for their generous support as a corporate sponsor of this year's event. Their commitment to community engagement helps make initiatives like this possible.

A Day of Remembrance & Resilience
June 7th marks National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and Lexington will honor the occasion with a vigil commemorating lives lost to gun violence, alongside resources promoting community safety. JLD Community Solutions has been a leader in this movement, receiving proclamations from Mayor Jason Hayes and City Councilman Jim Myers in recognition of their efforts. This year marks the 3rd annual gun violence awareness event for JLD Community Solutions.

"We believe in fostering a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered;" says Dia Nyarko of JLD Community Solutions. "This event is about more than awareness—it’s about action. We’re bringing people together to celebrate resilience, entrepreneurship, and the power of collective change."

Black Business Expo: Stories of Success
