Homecoming: A Pre-Festival Conversation in Words and Song
As the smoke rises from the pits at the Lexington Barbecue Festival, two celebrated local artists are teaming up for an evening of storytelling and song. Proceeds will benefit artistic expression.
On Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., author Barbara Presnell and singer-songwriter Jack Riggs will present “Homecoming: A Conversation in Words and Song” at Arts | Theatre 202, located at 202 N. Main Street in Lexington.
This pre-festival gathering promises an evening that’s part concert, part conversation—where stories, poems, and songs intertwine to explore the meaning of home, memory, and the creative spirit.
Presnell and Riggs describe the event as “conversational, fun, and rooted in the idea of leaving home and coming back again.” The two artists share a lifelong connection to the South, to storytelling, and to the landscapes that continue to shape their work.
Artists will share stories about where they have been, what brought them home, and the music that connects those moments.
Tickets are $10, available at the door or online at artsdavidsoncounty.org. All proceeds benefit Arts Davidson County, supporting local artists and community programs.
For anyone looking to start their Barbecue Festival weekend with something reflective—and local—Homecoming offers the perfect prelude: an evening of laughter, lyricism, and the power of memory set to music.
