Motorcycle Pursuit in Holly Grove Ends in Arrest, Multiple Charges Filed
A traffic stop in the Holly Grove community on April 23, 2026, led to a brief pursuit and the arrest of a Linwood man facing multiple charges, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Honda Shadow motorcycle. The operator fled the scene on the motorcycle, prompting deputies to search the surrounding area.
The motorcycle was later located abandoned near a wood line by a church on East Holly Grove Road. Deputies canvassed the area and identified the suspect as 23-year-old Devon Gage Helms of the Linwood community.
Helms was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony flee to elude, resist, obstruct, and delay, and failure to yield. Authorities also confirmed that Helms had an outstanding Order for Arrest related to a probation violation.
He was transported to the Davidson County Detention Facility and given a court date of April 24, 2026.
Under North Carolina law, judicial officials determine conditions of release in criminal proceedings. Bond amounts are not set by law enforcement. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
