Daniel Boone Author Talk & Book Signing Comes to Davidson County Historical Museum
Lexington, NC — April 23, 2026 — The Davidson County Historical Museum will host an author talk on Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 PM, featuring award-winning author, photographer, and storyteller Randell Jones.
Jones will present “Between Two Sons,” a compelling program exploring the life of America’s pioneer hero Daniel Boone during the Revolutionary era. The talk highlights Boone’s role in launching America’s first westward movement to create Kentucky and his efforts to defend the emerging nation during the American Revolution. Through vivid storytelling, Jones traces Boone’s challenging adventures on the western frontier alongside the conflict unfolding in the East.
“We’re excited to invite the public to join us for an evening of Boone and barbecue—two of the county’s favorite subjects!” said curator Caitlin Williams-Cole. The evening will include a book signing for Jones’s acclaimed 2nd edition (2024) of In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone. Guests will also enjoy a complimentary dinner featuring Lexington-style chopped barbecue sandwiches, a side, and a drink. Book sale proceeds will support the museum.
The event is free, but registration is required. To register, call 336-242-2035 or email dch.museum@davidsoncountync.gov.

This program kicks off the museum’s America250 series, a year-long commemoration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States. The museum is one of many community organizations participating in the statewide America250NC initiative, led by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
“What I’m most excited about for America250 is seeing community partners come together to create educational and entertaining programs for everyone that celebrate themes like liberty, equality, and freedom while also teaching us about Davidson County during the Revolutionary War era,” said Williams-Cole.
Coming in May, the museum continues the series with Tea & Trivia, co-hosted with the Lexington Public Library, and “The Regulators in North Carolina: Prelude to the Revolution” author talk with Marcia Phillips, co-hosted with the Davidson County Local History/Genealogy Room.
