Khmer New Year Celebration 2026 to Bring Culture and Community Together in Lexington

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Lexington Khmeraram community is inviting residents across Davidson County and beyond to take part in the Khmer New Year Celebration 2026, a two-day cultural festival highlighting Cambodian traditions, food, and community.

The event will take place again on Sunday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cambodian Cultural Center, located at 235 Cambodian Cultural Center Drive in Lexington.

Organizers describe the celebration as a vibrant gathering rooted in “Soursdey Chnam Thmey,” the traditional Cambodian New Year, offering an opportunity for families and visitors to experience the richness of Khmer culture.

The festival is free and open to the public, with activities planned for all ages. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Throughout the weekend, attendees can expect live music, cultural dance performances, and traditional games. A variety of food vendors will also be on site, serving authentic Cambodian cuisine and beverages.

The event is hosted by Wat Lexington Khmeraram and the Lexington Cambodian Community Center of North Carolina, both of which play a central role in preserving and sharing Cambodian heritage in the region.

According to organizers, the celebration continues to serve as a meaningful way for Cambodian diaspora communities to honor their traditions while inviting the broader community to learn, connect, and celebrate together.
