Thomasville to serve as the host city for 2027 District Convention
The North Carolina District of Pilot International has selected Thomasville as the host city for its 2027 District Convention, bringing a statewide gathering — and a significant service focus — to the Chair City.
The April 2027 event, themed “Timeless Thomasville,” is expected to highlight both the organization’s long-standing mission and the local community’s role in service and hospitality.
The announcement follows the district’s recent convention in St. James, where members carried out a large-scale service project benefiting the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina. Delegates assembled backpacks filled with clothing and essentials to support foster children during their first 48 hours of care, along with pantry donations for the organization’s April Food Round-Up.
Organizers say that impact will shift closer to home in 2027. Plans are already in place to partner with the Baptist Children’s Homes headquarters in Thomasville, tying the convention’s service work directly to the local community.
Pilot International, now more than a century old, focuses its work on brain health and safety, along with supporting caregivers. Its programs range from youth education on brain injury prevention to outreach for families navigating Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Local leadership is playing a key role in bringing the convention to Thomasville. Kimberly Oliver, the 2026–2027 NC District Treasurer and a Thomasville resident, is helping lead planning efforts and positioning the event as both a service opportunity and an economic driver.
Organizers expect the convention to bring increased foot traffic to downtown businesses, restaurants and local vendors, adding to ongoing conversations about investment and revitalization in the area.
“We aren’t just maintaining a club; we are building a professional organization’s future,” Oliver said. “By focusing on strategic partnerships and community engagement, we are ensuring that the 2027 convention serves as a showcase for Thomasville as a premier destination for professional service organizations.”
As planning continues, the North Carolina District is also opening the door for local businesses to get involved. Sponsorship opportunities are expected to provide visibility to a network of professionals from across the state while supporting both the event and its service initiatives.
