Thomasville announces promotion of Interim Fire Chief Jason Myers
City of Thomasville City Manager Michael Brandt is pleased to announce the position became available after Fire Chief Eddie Bowling was promoted to Assistant City Manager. Thomasville received many great candidates for the position from across the country but after extensive assessments Chief Myers was selected to fill the Fire Chief role.
Thomasville council votes to dissolve multicultural committee
A multicultural committee formed in 2012 was recently dissolved by the city of Thomasville. The unanimous vote by the council cited “over the past several years, the multicultural committee has deviated from the primary mission of promoting and embracing all of the community's cultures and has expressed interest in focusing on a more narrowly tailored group of cultures,” and in a resolution to dissolve the group.

Lexington Fire Department Responds to Fire on Drexel Circle
Around 1:45 pm on Sunday, May 29th, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a reported trash can on fire in a duplex apartment.

City of Lexington Fire Department: House fire still under investigation
Firefighters arrived at 5:32 pm to find smoke and flames. Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire and searching for possible victims. All occupants had exited the house before the fire department's arrival. However, one occupant, an adult male, had suffered some smoke inhalation. He was treated and transported to Wake Forrest Baptist – Lexington Medical Center by Davidson County EMS.
Thomasville Memorial Day Parade, ceremonies set for this weekend
Organizers invite the public to come out to Downtown Thomasville on Monday, May 30th at 9:00am the our annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will start at The Big Chair and go down Salem Street towards Memorial Park Dr. This event is hosted by the NC Memorial Day Parade Committee. The Grand Marshal for this year is Lt. Governor Mark Robinson.
Former teacher plans to accept position as Ward 4 representative for LCS BOE
Lisa Hathaway, a former special education teacher at Lexington Senior High School (LSHS), has shared with Davidson Local that she will be the new Ward 4 representative on the Lexington City Schools Board of Education.
TCS board will become an elected position in 2023
On April 18, the Thomasville City Council adopted a resolution to covert the Thomasville City Schools Board of Education positions from appointed to elected. The first election will take place on November 7, 2023.
