Energy United youth tour applications are open to Davidson County students

EnergyUnited is now accepting applications for the 2024 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour program. Each year, EnergyUnited and electric cooperatives nationwide send two students on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to learn about our nation’s history while touring national monuments, museums and meeting with members of their state’s congressional delegation. Application period: October 1 – December 31, 2023

Obituary: Kiwana T Crump


Kiwana was the first full-time African American teacher at Lexington Senior High School. She loved encouraging students to learn and follow their dreams. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at 12:30pm with family visitation at Noon at St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 5:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.

UPDATE: Suspect in vehicle chase who fled on foot captured by police

LEXINGTON, NC – Lexington Police Officers attempted a vehicle stop on a U-Haul box truck on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 4:51 pm on South Main Street at Fowler Avenue. The purpose of the stop was that the driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Dillon, age 31, had outstanding felony warrants. Dillon failed to stop for officers and led them on a pursuit, which lasted 24 miles.
