For most of the last five years, Charles McNeair was home—or at least, close to it—in the Davidson Correctional Center. He’d grown up in Lexington and was arrested there in 1979 for a crime he says he didn’t commit.
The Thomasville Polica Department Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating a hit and run traffic crash involving a pedestrian fatality in the 1100 block of Liberty Drive. On Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 4:43 a.m. Thomasville officers responded to the 1100 block of Liberty Drive in reference to an unconscious female lying in the roadway.

Officers arrested Gabriel Pastrana, age 20, of Winston-Salem, following a traffic stop on Winston Road earlier this week. Further investigation by officers during the stop indicated that Pastrana was found to be wearing a tactical vest with body armor and was in possession of a pistol grip AK-47 with extra loaded magazines.
