26-year-old man gunned down on Federal Street, 21-year old alleged suspect arrested

A 26-year-old man died after being shot during an incident on Federal Street in Lexington early Thursday morning. 

At approximately 12:30 a.m. officers with the Lexington Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Federal Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim on the front porch of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

They began life saving measures on the victim until EMS arrived and could be transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Health Lexington Medical Center. The victim, identified as Jyisaiah Cuthrell, later died as a result of his injuries.  

Detectives with the Lexington Police Department are continuing to investigate the shooting as said the incident appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.  

The suspect now identified as Jarvis Lewis Carroll, age 21, of Lexington has been arrested without incident at 225 Tucson Way in Davidson County.  He will be charged with the murder of Jyisaiah Cuthrell. The Davidson County Sheriffs Office assisted LPD at the scene of the arrest on Tucson Way.
