Arrest made in Denton church robberies

On June 9th, June 10th and June 11th of 2025, Patrol Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office received reports from members of the Summerville Baptist Church, 3134 Summerville Church Road, Denton, North Carolina, New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 11288 East Old Highway 64, Lexington, North Carolina, Fairview United Methodist Church, 5629 Old Highway 109, Lexington, North Carolina and Clear Spring Global Methodist Church, 4321 South Main Street Extension, Denton, North Carolina for commercial breaking entering and larceny, and vandalism.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division joined resources with the members of the Denton Police Department to start an investigation. On June 19, 2025, Detectives arrested Steven Anthony Lamonds for four counts of felony breaking and/or entering of a religious place of worship, felony larceny after breaking and/or entering, and felony obtaining property by false pretenses. He was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $15,000.00 secured bond set by the magistrate. Lamonds has pending criminal charges for felony larceny in Randolph County and was on pretrial release.
