Thomasville Man Convicted of Death by Distribution
Davidson County, NC — On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Charles Jenkins, 43, of Thomasville, North Carolina, pleaded guilty in Davidson County Superior Court to one count of Death by Distribution of a Controlled Substance. As a result of the plea, Jenkins was sentenced to a prison term of 58 to 82 months and placed in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
The conviction stems from a 2021 investigation conducted by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. In June of that year, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to a report of a deceased individual at a local residence. The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed the cause of death as a drug overdose. Through the course of their investigation, detectives determined that Jenkins had supplied the narcotic that contributed to the victim’s death.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the District Attorney’s Office for Prosecutorial District 33, successfully brought the case to resolution through coordinated investigative and prosecutorial efforts.
