Human Remains Discovered at Lexington Salvage Yard, Investigation Underway

Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the discovery of human remains at a local salvage yard in Lexington. According to an official press release, the incident occurred on May 14 at Leonard Salvage, located at 4471 Old US Highway 52.
An employee of Leonard Salvage reportedly found the remains during their shift. “Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Leonard Salvage… in reference to an employee… [who] located human remains during their shift, which were removed from a salvaged vehicle on their lot,” the release stated.
The Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified the remains or released any details about how they may have ended up inside the vehicle. Officials are treating the case as a potential crime scene.
“Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives with the Investigations Services Division, and Special Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations are actively processing the crime scene,” the department noted, adding that it is “an ongoing investigation, and more details may be released as they become available.”
