A second arrest has been made in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Jyisaiah Cuthrell, who was shot and killed on July 24th in Lexington.
On Sunday, July 27th, detectives with the Lexington Police Department arrested Lily Attaya You, 18, of Lexington. You has been charged with felony accessory after the fact to murder for her alleged role in assisting Jarvis Carroll, who was previously arrested and charged with Cuthrell’s murder last Thursday.
According to investigators, You is accused of helping Carroll evade arrest by fleeing the scene with him and hiding him from authorities. She is being held in the Davidson County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on August 5th.
Background on the Case
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on July 24th, officers with the Lexington Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 200 block of Federal Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered Jyisaiah Cuthrell, 26, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the front porch of a residence. Officers immediately performed life-saving measures until Davidson County Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported him to Lexington Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The Lexington Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide, with assistance from Lexington Fire Department and Davidson County EMS. Authorities have stated this appears to be an isolated incident and not an ongoing threat to the public.
