Davidson County Officials Charge EMT, Police Officer With Accessing Government Computers in Abuse Probe
Davidson County, NC — On August 25, 2025, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received a report of child sexual abuse occurring at a residence located at 664 Anderson Street in Denton, North Carolina, as well as other locations in the surrounding area.
Following an initial investigation, Detectives identified Jeremy Lanning Amburn, age 43, as the primary suspect in the sexual abuse of a juvenile. Further investigation revealed that Angela Carpenter Amburn, age 40, was aware of the abuse and actively facilitated it.
As the investigation progressed, Detectives uncovered that two individuals — Benjamin Geoffrey Myers, age 38, an active EMT with Davidson County EMS, and Jennifer Aree Myers, age 44, a sworn law enforcement officer with the Brookford Police Department (Catawba County) had accessed government computer systems to obtain information regarding the ongoing investigation. This information was used to alert Jeremy Lanning Amburn in the early stages of the investigation. As a result, key evidence was destroyed.
The findings were promptly presented to the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, and based on the evidence, charges were filed against both Benjamin Geoffrey Myers and Jennifer Aree Myers. Each has been charged with one count of Felony Accessing Government Computers and one count of Obstruction of Justice.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, both individuals were arrested and formally charged. They are currently being held at the Davidson County Detention Center. Benjamin is being held on a $1,500 secured bond and Jennifer is being held on a $5,000 secured bond. Benjamin’s court appearance is scheduled for December 01, 2025, at the Davidson County Courthouse. Jennifer’s court appearance is scheduled for December 02, 2025, both reside in Denton, North Carolina.
The Davidson County Magistrate set conditions of their release to prohibit Jennifer Myers, Benjamin Myers, or Jeremy Amburn from having any contact through writing, person, or through a third party.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to thoroughly investigating this matter and holding all involved parties accountable. Due to the sensitive nature of this case and the ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
