State reports crime in schools down in Lexington and Thomasville, rise in Davidson County

Earlier this month, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released its annual report on criminal offenses reported by school districts across the state. These offenses range from violent crimes such as assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault or deaths to non-violent crimes including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon or a bomb threat. 

Alexis Beverly Serves Up Leadership for Lexington Volleyball

In a wide-ranging conversation, Lexington native Alexis Beverly shared her journey from discovering volleyball by chance in middle school to becoming head coach of both the high school and middle school teams. Beverly reflected on why she loves the game’s team-first spirit, her path through Catawba College and work in sports and physical therapy, and how her calling eventually led her back home.

Lexington City Schools slated to receive a portion of $25 million federal grant

Regarding this grant, Dr. Nakia Hardy, Superintendent of Lexington City Schools said, "Lexington City Schools is excited to partner with The Innovation Project and other districts on reimagining one of our greatest resources, classroom teachers.  This partnership allows LCS to continue to address equity and access which is one of our core values."
