Press Release: LPD responds to shooting on Pine Street, Shelter in Place removed

At 4:30 p.m. on May 1st, the Lexington Police Department (LPD) officers responded to calls about multiple shots being fired repeatedly by a rifle in the area of E Third Street and Pine Street. Officers responded swiftly and a Shelter in Place was issued at 4:48 p.m. for the safety of residents in the area. It was determined that the shots were being fired from a residence on Pine Street.

Press Release: Local Speedway fined for price scanning errors

Speedway at 19 Cotton Grove Road in Lexington paid $405 after failing two inspections in 2024. An inspection in April 2024 found an error rate of 16% for eight overcharges on a 50-item lot. A follow-up inspection in June 2024 found an error rate of 3% for three overcharges on a 100-item lot, resulting in the $405 fine. The store passed inspection in August 2024. The store paid the fine in March.

Disability advocate talks about rare disease, Ehlers Danlos Awareness Month

At the April 28th meeting, Lexington City Council Member John Burke presented a proclamation to Pamela "Kelly" McAfee, President of the North Carolina Democratic Party Disability Issues Caucus. Pamela's story is one of resilience and strength as she lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a group of disorders that affect connective tissues supporting the skin, joints, and blood vessel walls.
