Anti-Drug Regional Taskforce makes three fentanyl arrests

A recently formed anti-drug task force in Davidson County, announced on Monday the seizure of almost five pounds of fentanyl, firearms and cash following an intensive month-long investigation in Davidson and Forsyth counties.  

The Davidson Anti-Drug Regional Taskforce, or DART, was formed in September and includes partnerships between the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Police Department and Thomasville Police Department.  

“This task force is a collaborative partnership between each organization’s narcotics divisions that have come together to combine resources and intelligence to combat illegal narcotics, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks, reduce the availability of illicit substances, and enhance public safety through coordinated, intelligence-driven investigations and enforcement,” stated a press release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Representatives with the task force said their first operation was in 2024 when detectives recovered approximately 22 pounds of methamphetamine from a home in Thomasville, which had a street value of $176,000. 

In November and December 2025, they executed search warrants in Forsyth and Davidson counties that resulted in the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl, firearms and drug paraphernalia. 

On Nov. 25, investigators conducted a search at a residence in Winston-Salem with help from the Forsyth County Drug Task Force and Winston-Salem Police, seizing roughly five pounds of fentanyl and two firearms.  

On Dec. 1 a search of a house on Old Wesley Chapel Road in Linwood resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia, four firearms and U.S. currency. A third search was held on Dec. 2 on Gloria Ridge in Winston-Salem and resulted in the recovery of a quarter-kilogram press, drug paraphernalia, two firearms and additional cash. 

Three people were arrested as part of the investigation. 

Michael D’Angelo Jones, 49, was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine; felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession; felony trafficking opium or heroin by transport; felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. He was arrested on Dec. 1 and is being held at the Davidson County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is set for Dec. 18 in Davidson County District Court. 

Mary Lou Wilson, 45, was charged with felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession; felony trafficking opium or heroin by transport; felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. She was arrested on Dec. 1 and is being held at the Davidson County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Dec. 18. 

Curtis McBee Mashack, 43, was charged with felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession; felony manufacture of a Schedule II controlled substance; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II substance; felony manufacture, sell, deliver or possess a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park; felony possession of drug paraphernalia; felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon 

Mashack was arrested on Dec. 2 and is being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Forsyth County District Court on Dec. 12. 

“The Davidson Anti-Drug Regional Task Force is committed to the suppression of illegal narcotics in Davidson County, the City of Lexington and the City of Thomasville. This task force will continue to utilize all available and pre-existing resources including other already established local, state and federal partners. The main objectives of this task force are the identification, investigation, and arrest of any individuals or organizations involved in narcotics trafficking, the seizure of assets acquired through narcotics trafficking, and the promotion of coordinated narcotics efforts among the law enforcement agencies within the county and the surrounding area,” stated the DART press release. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were an estimated 48,422 deaths involving synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl) in 2024.
