Two Men Found Dead Following Welfare Check, Suspect Arrested
A Davidson County man is facing multiple charges after deputies responding to a welfare check discovered two people dead inside a Lexington home Monday morning.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:47 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, to a residence in the 48 Cedar Grove Drive area after receiving a 911 call reporting that an individual had claimed to have broken into the home and killed two people.
When deputies arrived, they encountered 38-year-old Cade Addison Hyskell of Lexington in a neighboring residence's yard. Authorities said Hyskell failed to comply with deputies' lawful commands and was taken into custody.
Hyskell has been charged with resisting a public officer and was transported to the Davidson County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond related to that charge.
Deputies then conducted a welfare check at the Cedar Grove Drive residence after finding the exterior doors unsecured. During a search of the home, deputies located two deceased adults inside.
The victims were identified as Susan Kiger, 51, and Joshua Purvis, 40. According to the Sheriff's Office, both victims lived at the residence.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office has not released additional information regarding the cause of death or whether additional charges are pending. The investigation remains ongoing.
