The Democratic Women of Davidson County will host its annual fundraiser, the Bold and Blue, at the Finch House, 17 E. Main St, Thomasville, NC, on Thursday, May 22, from 6:00-9:00. This year's fundraiser theme is Defending Democracy.
While many teens dream of a vacation, a gaming system, or celebrity meet-and-greet, 17-year-old Jonathan from Lexington had something bigger in mind.
LPD is currently in search of Andrew Brackman who is wanted for assault on a law enforcement officer. Brackman is on foot in the south end of Lexington on the stretch of Cotton Grove Rd/NC Highway 8 from Plaza Parkway to Highway 47. This has caused for an increased police presence in the south end of the city.
Perhaps this the end of the saga. A federal judge dismissed attempts to throw out votes, upholds rights of military and overseas voters.

A Day of Remembrance and Resilience
June 7th marks National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and Lexington will honor the occasion with a vigil commemorating lives lost to gun violence, alongside resources promoting community safety. JLD Community Solutions has been a leader in this movement, receiving proclamations from Mayor Jason Hayes and City Councilman Jim Myers in recognition of their efforts. This year marks the 3rd annual gun violence awareness event for JLD Community Solutions.

They are not relics of the past, but cornerstones of our future.”
Garner has once again placed 4th in the race for three open school board seats. This mirrors her strong showing in the November 2024 election, where she also finished fourth out of 14 candidates—just 800 votes short of a win.
Despite not securing an elected seat, Board Chair Nick Jarvis noted that the community had effectively chosen Garner when she was appointed to fill Ashley Carroll’s vacant seat. Jarvis said, “I felt like the citizens picked her”
On Friday, May 2, 2025, Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested James C. Burr, a registered sex offender for illegally being on child premises after completing an investigation. Burr is held in the Davidson County Detention Center, pending his court date in Lexington District Court, on May 29, 2025.
As spring hits its stride and Lexington’s streets come alive with color, Uptown is setting the stage for an afternoon where wine glasses clink, shop doors swing open, and music drifts through the air.
